Badge night for 2010 was held on the 19 October and again our swimmers were brilliant in their achievements.
A total of 41 badges were awarded to children of all ages and abilities and many children swam further than their expected target. For those swimming a great distance, it was only a shortage of time that curtailed the number of lengths achieved. Again children in the starter classes from 3 years of age joined in the fun and were awarded a certificate of achievement for their efforts. As can be seen from the table below a total distance for badges amounted to 33375 metres. However, the total number of metres achieved amounted to 44075, not counting the number swam by the helpers!
Although normally we would not highlight particular swimmers, on this occasion we would like to mention the achievement of Mr Nick Stanley, a member of our adult section. Nick joined us early this year and is, through hard work, a competitive attitude and tenacity, becomming an accomplished swimmer. I believe Nick is our first adult swimmer to take part in Badge Night and he achieved 8 lengths, which is 200 metres. Well done Nick.
So, a great achievement by all and we look forward to holding a further badge night in early 2011.
